Commissioned by Duke Francesco III D&#8217;Este and designed by the mathematician <br \/><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Domenico Vandelli designed it to connect Modena to Massa Carrara<\/strong>, and the <span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">road was equipped with infrastructure for lodging and refreshment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Via Vandelli represents an opportunity for hiking enthusiasts to <strong>discover landscapes that range from the plain to the mountains, among ducal palaces, countless churches, villages, and towers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>he first stop of the route <strong>starts in Modena,<\/strong> in front of the ducal palace (now the seat of the Military Academy), and ends in<strong> Puianello<\/strong>, passing through the territory of Maranello, Pozza and Torre Maina.<\/p>\n<p>Of particular interest is the stretch of Torre Maina, where the plain gives way to the first hills. Here, you can observe the ancient tower of the <strong>Borgo Antico della Montina<\/strong>, what remains of a defensive structure that, a thousand years ago, was tasked with protecting the area from possible enemy attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the tower has been completely restored and is part of the <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maranelloresort.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maranello Resort &#8211; Borgo Torre della Montina<\/a>,<\/b> a unique property that allows you to sleep surrounded by history, just a short distance from Maranello. Continuing uphill, a few kilometers from the end of the first stage, near Puianello, you&#8217;ll find the <strong>traditional restaurant<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacicala.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> La Cicala<\/strong>,<\/a> where you can take a <strong>lunch break <\/strong>along the route before resuming the final stretch.
